Vera M. Gantner
89, Wausau, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Marywood Center, Wausau.
She was born November 12, 1922 in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Michael and Lucy (Witucki) Kulas. On November 12, 1945 she married Lawrence Gantner at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski.
Vera was a homemaker, cook and caregiver. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club, St. John's Circle and the choir at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Some of her other hobbies included playing the guitar and completing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her sons, Brian (Sue) Gantner and Scott Gantner, both of Wausau; son-in-law, Jim (Ellen) Albrecht, Wausau; four grandchildren, Tricia (Richard) Bunten, Duluth, Minn., Tracy (Henry) VanZalingen, Sherwood Park, Alberta Canada, Ryan (Jenny) Juers, Wausau and Melissa (Jesse) Tessmer, West Allis; eight great-grandchildren, siblings, Mary Bergs, Wausau, Mildred (Jay) Nally, Mundelein, Ill., and Mercedes (Bud) David, Phoenix, Ariz.
Besides her parents and husband, Lawrence, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Albrecht, three sisters, Helen Pempek, Harriet Thalmann and Theresa Riehle, four brothers, Joseph, Edmund, Leo and Michael Kulas.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
