Tilda J.Mohr
78, died July 22, 2011 peacefully in her home with family at her side.
She was born September 7, 1932 in Marathon City, daughter of the late John and Matilda Mohr.
Tilda graduated from Marathon High School in 1950 and continued her education in clerical and secretarial work. She worked for many years at Channel 7 News in Wausau. She moved to Madison to work for the State and University for 30 years until she retired. She then returned to Wausau to live with her sister Anna Mohr and care for her sister Theresa Mohr. Tilda resided in Wausau until early 2009 when she was no longer able to live alone because of Alzheimer's disease. She resided in Waunakee with her niece Laurie Gorman and family who cared for her.
Tilda was a member of the Wausau Area Women's Council, Catholic Knights and American Legion Auxiliary. She was also an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon, Queen of Peace, Madison, St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau and St. Mary of The Lake, Westport. She enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, setting puzzles, reading, traveling and being with friends and family. Tilda also loved to smile and giggle. She will be remembered and missed by all her relatives and friends.
Survivors include her niece, Laurie (Pat) Gorman, Waunakee; great nephew, Matthew Gorman; two great nieces, Nicole and Christina Gorman and many cousins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by great aunt Anna Winzenhoerolein, brother, John Mohr Jr., sisters, Theresa Mohr, Anna Mohr and Bernadine Bachhuber, and niece Rebecca Sue Marks.
Services will be 11a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Friends may call from 10a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
Memorials may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark Street, Wausau, WI 54403. A memorial for Theresa Mohr was established in 2000 for St. Mary School and the Alzheimer's Foundation.
