Thomas Louis Fahey of Edgar, passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Tomahawk.
Tom was born on June 5, 1945, in Marshfield to Donald and Elizabeth (Koller) Fahey. He grew up living at Cedar Hedge Cheese Factory in the township of Emmet. Tom graduated from Edgar High School in 1963 and wed Mary Ellen (Guralski) Fahey on June 14,1969, at Saint John the Baptist Parish. Together they shared 56 years of blessed marriage, raising their five children: Janet, Julie, Jimmy, Don, and Mary Lou.
Tom resided in Edgar, where together he operated Pine Valley Cheese Factory for 20 years. He then went on to become an entrepreneur of sorts owning and operating both Westside and Brooklyn Hill Mobile Home Parks, Fahey’s Apartments in Weston, and the Mosinee Laundry Mat. He attended the short-course at UW-Madison and graduated with his cheesemaking degree. For the past 10 years, he spent his time in quiet contentment on Lake Alice in Tomahawk, where he could drink his coffee and view God’s beauty looking out his bay window to see the morning sunrise, ripples on the lake, and be mesmerized by all the wildlife that surrounded him.
Tom was a 30-year kidney transplant survivor, receiving a kidney from his sister Jean, creating a bond stronger than any other between a brother and sister.
Tom was a handy man of all sorts who could fix anything. He strongly believed in educating his children on the tools needed for both on the job and in life (or to at least run and get the tools for him). In Tomahawk, he spent his time in his garage, feeding the bluejays, orioles, and squirrels, and watching NASCAR. The best part of his day was sitting on his deck overlooking the water, chatting with his loving wife Mary.
Being a community member of Edgar, he served on the Edgar Village Board, a member of the Edgar Lions Club, Krecji City Cruisers Snowmobile Club, and served on the Saint John the Baptist church board, where he was a lifelong member.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary , their children: Janet (Matt) Baumann – Bryce (Lindsey) Schilling, Olivia (Noah) Swita, Owen Baumann, and Olysta Baumann; Julie Fahey (Tony Bong); Jimmy (Tammy) Fahey – Hailey (Josh) Elmhorst, Austin Fahey: Don (Jenna) Fahey – Malayna, Kendra, Kase; and Mary Lou (Brad) Zetter – Eli, Erika, Emma Lou, and Ethan. Two great children: Mallory Schilling and Palmer Swita. He is also survived by siblings: Michael (Mary Katherine) Fahey, Mary Lynn (Kenny) Hoernke, Ann (John) Napierala, and Jean (Mark) Fonferek; in-laws: Glenroy (Diane) Guralski, Terra Lee Guralski, Jean (John) Sattler, Gerald (Sandy) Guralski, Judy (Wayne) Novak, Steve (Carol) Guralski and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Elizabeth Fahey; in-laws, John and Irene Guralski; brothers-in-law LeRoy Guralski, Michael Guralski and sisters-in-law, Rose, Louise, and Elsie Guralski; nephews Frank Guralski, Luke Guralski, Timothy Hoernke, niece Melinda Guralski, close cousin Richard Esp, and still born infant son Joseph.
