Thomas G. Thomae
79, Rib Mountain, passed away Thursday November 23, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1927, in Antigo, son of the late Edward and Marie (Paulick) Thomae. On February 19, 1955, he married Helen Jean Schwartz at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo. She survives.
While growing up in Antigo, Tom attended St. John Catholic School and was a graduate of Antigo High School. At age 17, he joined the Navy Seebies during World War II and served aboard the USS Warhawk in China and Okinawa. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post #388, Wausau. After service, Tom began his career with United Parcel service in Milwaukee and retired after 27 years of service. After retirement, he pursued his longtime dream of owning a horse ranch. He was the proud owner of the TNT Ranch near Mayflower Lake where he raised, trained and boarded horses.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Jean Thomae, a daughter, Sandy (fiancee, Jim Vachavake), Wausau, sons, Dave (Lori) Thomae, Westford, Mass., Greg (Kari) Thomae, Wausau, Tom Thomae, Wausau, Ken Thomae, Waukesha, two granddaughters, Sarah Thomae, Westford, Mass. and Kayla Thomae, Wausau, six grandsons, Chris (fiancee, Laura Perkins), Aaron, and Adam Thomae, Westford, Mass., Korey Kilinski, Wausau, Tyler and Dakota Thomae, Wausau and one great-grandson, Cameron Thomae. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Wilman, Waukesha, and Carol (George) Meadows, Eagle River, two brothers, Phil (Peg) Thomae, Antigo and Harry (Betty) Thomae, Mequon and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Meryl Schroeder and four brothers, Oscar, Herb, Leonard and Bob Thomae.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday November 27, 2006 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Richard Kreager will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home.
