Thomas J. Slewitzke

Thomas J. Slewitzke 88, formerly of S. 10th Avenue, Wausau, died Thursday January 5, 2006 at Cedar Creek Manor, Mosinee. He was born May 29, 1917 in the town of Rietbrock, son of the late Frank and Anna (Sekorske) Slewitzke. On September 25, 1943, he married Helen Dvorak at St. Francis Catholic Church, Knowlton. She preceded him in death February 29, 2004. From 1944 until retirement in 1980, Tom worked as a molder for the former D.J. Murray Foundry. For many years after his retirement, he enjoyed helping the elderly neighbors with yardwork, errands and general everyday tasks and repairs. Among his many interests, he enjoyed gardening and listening to Brewer games. Survivors include a son, Ronald (Valerie) Slewitzke, Aurora, Ill., a daughter, Mary (Jeff) Williams, Wausau, three grandchildren, Shannon Slewitzke, Champaign, Ill., Tim Slewitzke, Iowa City, Iowa and Matt Slewitzke, Aurora, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and their spouses, Frances (Lawrence) Walenczyk, Lucy Slewitzke, Ann (John) Drewek, Edward (Elizabeth) Slewitzke, Peter Slewitzke and Mike (Cecil) Sliwicki. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2006 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Joseph Gyim-Austin will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Cathy, Linda and the entire staff of Cedar Creek Manor for the loving care and concern extended to Tom during his time with them.
