Thomas G. Burk

Thomas G. Burk 80, Wausau, died Monday April 14, 2008 at the Hospice House. He was born June 12, 1927 in Wausau, son of the late Chester and Helen (Benson) Burk. He was a veteran of the US Navy stationed in Guam. Prior to his retirement in 1989, Tom had been employed by Frito-Lay fro 35 years. For many years he sang in the choir at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau and he coached basketball at St. James School as well as being a Cub Scout leader. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, darts, singing with the Barbershoppers, cards, fishing, the trailer up north and going to the casino. He was also well known for his skills refinishing and repairing antiques. Survivors include his wife, Leona (Wimmer) Burk, Wausau, three sons, Chris (Patricia) Burk, Ore., Michael Burk and John (Dixie) Burk, all of Wausau, three daughters, Kathleen Drake, Sandra (Tom) Magnuson and Susan (Mike) Erdman, all of Wausau, 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca & Laurie Drake, Kari Doctor, Alysa O'Toole, Wade & Cory Magnuson, Casey & Jeff Burk, Helena & Erica Erdman, and one sister, Eline (Mike) Nowak, Edgar. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jesse Burk Witter and Sean Callahan, one great grandson, Brenden Erdman. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 19, 2008 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Daniel Hackel will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
