Thad J. Kinney

Thad J. Kinney, 55, Weston, passed away, December 18, 2025, in Wausau.

He was born July 31, 1970, in Wausau, son of Patrick Sr. and Autumn (Kaufman) Kinney.

Thad had a love if not an obsession, with fishing. He shared this passion with his kids, friends, and sometimes newly made friends at any given fishing location. He was also an avid motorcyclist, especially in his youth. His primary interest in his lifetime was to help people during his work as a Registered Nurse. In addition, he received pleasure and joy in meeting new people and developing friendships. Even as a small child, he was precocious and gregarious with his early speech skills. From a very early age, he would interact with people he met.

Most of all, he loved his children and had many fantastic summers taking them on fishing trips, especially to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Thad is survived by his son, Isaiah Kinney; daughter, Kalie Kinney; his siblings, Patrick (Cheryl) of Wausau; Brian (Margaret) Kinney of Wausau; Lynn (John) Borkenhagen of Rochester MN; Lisa Kinney (Doug Hippe)of Madison; Krista (Kevin) Kulas of Savage MN; Christopher (Connie) Kinney of Lino Lakes MN and Joshua (Tracey) Kinney of Woodbury MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Wausau on the Water, 1300 N River Dr, Wausau, WI 54403, on January 31, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
