Sylvia M. Opichka

Sylvia M. Opichka, 95, Wausau died Monday, June 22, 2015 at Our House Assisted Living, Wausau. She was born April 20, 1920 in Wausau, daughter of the late William and Mary (Hosenfugel) Buchberger. On November 9, 1940 she married Romeo Opichka at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2007. After Sylvia raised her children she went to work at SNE and also at Holiday Inn in Wausau. Some of her favorite pastimes included cooking, embroidery, tending to her flower beds and taking car rides. Sylvia loved caring for her dogs, Samuel, Yukon and Jethro just to name a few. Survivors include her children, Romeo (Maria) Opichka, Choctaw, Oklahoma, Michael (Lynn) Opichka, Merrill, John Opichka, Wausau, Tom (Julie) Opichka, Wausau and Janice (Mike) Lawrence, Wausau, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two sisters, Lillian (Marvin) Curler, Appleton and Francis Kroening, Wausau as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
