Susan G. VanderLeest, age 53, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born November 29, 1959 in Wausau, daughter of Dale Lee and the late Mabel (Meilahn) Lee. On June 9, 1979 she married Michael VanderLeest in Wausau. He survives. Susan worked as a nurse at Colonial Manor for many years. She was always willing to help others and loved caring for people. Some of her hobbies included watching the birds, gardening, especially flowers and camping. Above all she loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include her husband, Michael VanderLeest, Wausau; two daughters, Dayle (Karley) VanderLeest, Minneapolis, Minn. and Anna VanderLeest, Wausau; father, Dale Lee, Wausau; four siblings, Beth (Bill) Zerenke, Wausau, Denise Koskey, Weston, Andy (Kelly) Lee, Wausau, and Marsha (Tom) Blaschka, Wausau; and her best friend, Kathy (Jim) Krueger, Wausau. She was preceded in death by her mother. Memorial service will be 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Timothy Welles will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Friends and family may call Monday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
