Susan J. Davis 99, Wausau, died Monday, May 23, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. She was born July 13, 1911 in Burr Oak, Iowa, daughter of the late Charles and Lavina (Arnold) Furze. In 1943, she married Sam Davis in Decorah, Iowa, he preceded her in death in 1976. Survivors include, one son, James (Phyllis) McCarthy, Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Susan Gauger, Wausau; one foster daughter, Carol (Dave) Nelson, Rio, Wis; three grandchildren, Therese Gregory, Phoenix, Ariz., Dan (Stephanie) McCarthy, Indianapolis, Ind. and Darren (Amy) Gauger, Wausau; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece. Besides her parents and husband, Sam, she was preceded in death by one step son, Richard Davis; two grandsons, Michael and Larry McCarthy; and one brother, James Furze. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. James Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
