Steven Thomas "Snowy' Normand,, 43, 807 Eighth Street, Marathon, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Steven was born April 20, 1958 in Wausau, son of Norbert and Ila (Vetter) Normand, Marathon. He married Christine La Fave May 15, 1982 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Steven was a mechanic for the Marathon County Highway Department, proud to have the knowledge to work on heavy machinery. As a skilled carpenter he worked many construction jobs and built homes throughout the area. Camping at the Northforest camp ground, fishing and hunting, as well as football and Nascar racing were his ideal ways of enjoying life. He was a member of "Team Karlen". Above all, Steven loved his family and lived life 100 percent.
Besides his wife, Christine and his parents he is survived by two daughters, Diana Normand and Ashley Normand; one son, Scott Normand all of Marathon; four brothers, Norbert (Donna) Normand Jr., Wausau, David Normand, Edgar, Matt (Mary) Normand, Marathon, Jon Normand, Edgar; three sisters, Beth Writz, Marathon, Renee (Allen) Thomsen, Marathon, Sheri Howard, Marathon, 24 nephews and nieces.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2002 and again from 9 a.m., Monday until the time of services all at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Duke University, specifically for Brain Cancer Research.
