Stella S. Zemke

Stella S. Zemke, 92, died Thursday November 1, 2012 at Wausau Manor. She was born January 11, 1920, in the town of Pine River, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Hubert and Sarah (Coulter) Schmid. On October 8, 1938, she married Elroy Zemke Sr. at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Hewitt. He preceded her in death. Stella and her husband farmed in the town of Wausau for 46 years until they sold the farm in 1983. They moved to the Village of Rothschild in 1984. Stella was a homemaker and she enjoyed baking for friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing and was a television fan of baseball. Stella was a baptized member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Weston. Survivors include one son, Elroy (Nancy) Zemke, Rothschild, two grandchildren, Rex (Patty) Zemke, Rothschild and their children, Megan, Audrey and Cole; Ann (Dave) Junkerman, Maple Grove, Minn., nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Calvin & Earl and two sisters, Marcella and Edna. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday November 9, 2012 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Weston. Rev. Raymond Connor will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
