Stefanie Geiger, 81, passed away on January 16, 2026, at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, Wisconsin. Stefanie was born in Enkenbach, Germany on January 19, 1944, to Stefan Henrich and Elisabetha Henrich nee Lorenz. She was educated in Germany as a bookkeeper. She married Dennis Frank Geiger on January 20, 1966, in Enkenbach, Germany. The family moved to Wausau in 1973.

Stefanie loved her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Frank Geiger. She is survived by four children, including her sons, Dennis (Jane) Geiger, Steve (Patti) Geiger, and two daughters, Pamela (Tod) Tesch, Susi Geiger. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Samuel (Ashleigh) Tesch, Emily (Boaz) Rodriguez, Max (Anna) Geiger, Sofie (Jonathan) Miller, Andrew Geiger, and Ellie Geiger; two step-grandchildren, Olivia LaFevre, Michael LaFevre; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by siblings, including Georg Henrich, Helma Doll, Adelwine Henrich, and is preceded in death by Elisabeth Stumpf, Irma Weissmann, Karola Henrich, Martin Henrich, Richard Henrich.

She is survived by her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Joan Schmidt, Janice Geiger, Marlene Behnke, Bonnie (Gilbert) Slivicki, Sue Fluegge, Beth (Kent) Fluegge, and preceded in death by: Donald Schmidt, Gerald Geiger, Jerome Behnke, Dan Fluegge, Daniel Kleman, Gloria Kleman, Joe and Catherine Geiger. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her love of family and friends, her passions were knitting, writing, and volunteering. When her kids were young, she volunteered at Franklin Elementary School PTO, Wausau-Merrill German Club, and St. Michael Catholic Church. Throughout the years, she knitted colorful hats, sweaters, mittens, socks and more for family and friends. She will be remembered by colleagues from Northcentral Technical College as an administrative assistant and for writing speeches for reunions and celebrations even into her retirement. She also wrote poems for friends and family on their birthdays and for members of her “Good Grief” group which she attended each Tuesday as much as possible since 2013 with her friend and sister-in-law Marlene Behnke.

She was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church in Wausau where she had volunteered as a catechist when her children were young. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday evening, January 22, 2026, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, with visitation from 4-7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Tom Lindner at St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark Street, Wausau, on Friday, January 23, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 11:00 a.m. A lunch and fellowship to follow. We appreciate the care she was given throughout the years at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and in recent days at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.
