Sophie C. Seubert

Sophie C. Seubert, 94, formerly of Marathon, died Friday, February 22, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Cady House West, Wausau. Sophie was born March 1, 1907 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late Joseph and Cresentia (Imhoff) Michlig She married Hugo Seubert November 24, 1925 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death January 1, 2000. Sophie was a homemaker. Spending time at her cottage in Tomahawk was a great joy, as was spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and playing cards. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Nikolai, Neenah, two sons, Hugo (Joyce) Seubert Jr., Marathon, James (Ann) Seubert, Marathon, 27 grandchildren, 78 greatgrandchildren, 8 greatgreatgrandchildren, two brothers, Philip (Doris) Michlig, Argonne, Joseph (Ramona) Michlig, Fortuna, CA., two sisters, Marie Barnum, Elk Grove, CA., Mildred Luedtke, Wausau, one daughter-in-law, Arlene ( Edwin) Volhard, Marathon. Besides her husband Hugo Sr., and her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by one son, La Verne Seubert, one daughter, Mary Seubert, one son-in-law, Harold Nikolai, four brothers and six sisters. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 AM, Monday, February 25, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church. Peterson /Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
