Sophie D. Marten

Sophie D. Marten 89, Wausau, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau. She was born June 1, 1917 in Tomahawk, daughter of the late George and Sophie (Bartells) Koch. On December 8, 1936 she married Kermit Marten in Ringle. He preceded her in death. Sophie was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and a few games of Bingo but most of all she enjoyed spending as much time as she could with all her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Roger (Jean) Marten, Wausau, Audrey (Robert) Narlock, Rhinelander, Eleanor Kannenberg, Wausau, Shirley (Larry) Marten, Ringle, Ronald (Amanda) Marten, Mosinee, Patricia (Robert) Schroeder, Rothschild and Deborah (Terry) Andersen, 23 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and one niece Charlotte (Hank) Kosidowski, Milwaukee and her family. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Kannenberg and two brothers, George and Karl Koch. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. John Meachen will officiate. Burial will be Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton.
