Sophia Margaret Braun peacefully passed away on June 20, 2024, just short of her 91st birthday. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.
Born on the Hart family farm in Poniatowski, Wisconsin, she was one of eleven children to John and Louise Hart. She attended Poniatowski and Athens schools and later married Floyd Braun on April 24th, 1954. Together they made Athens, Wisconsin their home and built a life filled with love, laughter, and community. She spent her working years as the bookkeeper for her husband at Braun Sales and Service Ford dealership until their retirement. Floyd and Sophie’s house was the place for family and friends to gather with Sophie always providing exceptional hospitality.
Sophie was a devout Catholic, always looking at the brighter side of life and spreading joy with her infectious laughter. Her creativity was evident in her love for painting and creating jeweled picture frames and crosses. Even in her later years Sophie kept herself aware of current events and she was an excellent conversationalist, making it easy for others to connect with her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Anne Marie Braun, favorite son-in-law Patrick Hernandez, and brother Raymond Hart. Many nieces, nephews, and friends have fond memories of their time with her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Poniatowski on Saturday, July 27th, 2024. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Private burial will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bell Tower Residence for their care and support.
