Sophie A. Bahleda

Sophie Anna Bahleda 94, Wausau died Tuesday May 3, 2011 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau. She was born July 26, 1916 in Wild Rose, daughter of the late Valentine and Marianna (Polak) Rzymek. On June 22, 1935 she married Joseph Bahleda at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1999. Sophie worked at Pied Piper Shoe Factory in Wausau for more than 25 years. She was a charter member at St. Anne Catholic Church and also was a member of the Fatima Council. Some of her favorite pastimes include dancing, playing cards, sewing doll clothing, gardening, fishing, visiting with friends and tending to her flower gardens. Survivors include nieces and nephews; Lorraine Barthels and Judy (Gary) Tapper, Wausau, Fred (Lorraine) Maly, Knowlton, Leonard (Charlotte) Maly, Mosinee, Karen Pankow, Rhinelander, Grace (Dennis) Riehle, Christine (Rzymek) Tiege, Jon Rzymek, Weston and Arlene (Wayne) Hoffman, Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, a sister, Helen (Maly) Sirny and a brother, Henry Rzymek. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
