Sophia S. Stencil
104, Oshkosh, formerly of the town of Cleveland, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Parkview Health Center in Oshkosh
She was born May 3, 1906 in the town of Emmet, daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine (Koptinski) Semski. Sophia married Louis S. Stencil on September 3, 1928 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the town of Cassel. He passed away September 1, 1973.
She and her husband farmed in the town of Cleveland during which she also worked for the Edgar Basket Factory. She later moved to the Oshkosh area and resided there since.
She enjoyed making homemade potato dumplings, crafts and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by one daughter Vivian Masanz, Winneconne and one daughter-in-law Sandra Stencil, Germantown, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step- great great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sophia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Louis and one son in infancy, two brothers and 3 sisters.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the town of Cassel. The Rev. Barnabas Kyea will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service all at the church.
