Sonny "Theodore" C. Writz
65, 1425 Summit Drive, Wausau died Friday, June 27, 2008 under the care of the Oncology Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 22, 1943 in Chicago, son of Isabel (Ellenbecker) Writz and the late Theodore Writz Sr. On November 28, 1964 he married Salli Fandrey at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. She survives.
For more than 43 years Sonny was a welder at Marathon Electric. Some of his favorite pastimes included playing softball for Bert & Daves and All-Car, watching NASCAR races, fishing, and spending time up north at the cottage. Besides having a love for all types of sports he always found time to follow his grandchildren's many activities, travel the United States with his wife Salli and visit his favorite place out West, Las Vegas. Sonny will always be remembered for the love that he shared with his family, especially his grandchildren and his loyal canine friend, Samantha.
Survivors include his wife, Salli Writz, Wausau his children, Scott (Colleen) Writz, Wausau and Tami (David) Kreger, Hatley, his grandchildren, Alexandra, Kirsten, Scotty, Steven, Stephanie and Hunter, his mother, Isabel Writz, Wausau and his siblings, Romelle Westberg and Gary Writz, both of Wausau. Sonni is further survived by his in-laws, Dale (Shirley) Fandrey, Hatley, Bill (Mary) Fandrey, Birnamwood, Marlene Fliss, Birnamwood and Cliff (Linda) Fandrey, Hatley, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Besides his father he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Writz and his mother and father-in-law, Derwin and Helen Fandrey.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
