Simon Bartus

Simon "Sam" Bartus, 93 Wausau died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on March 24, 1922 in Mosinee son of the late Wojciech & Antonia (Matke) Bartus. Sam enlisted in the Army serving in World War II where he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his combat action. After service Sam was owner operator of several race tracks across Wisconsin and was also an area concert promoter. He was well known for his custom suits and his savvy business sense. Survivors include his four children Pamela Bartus, Brenda (Henry) Hildebrand, Randall (Tina) Bartus, and Lisa Bartus, four grandchildren Alex, Justin, Christopher, Jennifer; and one great grandchild Sabastian and one brother Albert Bartus. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Brian and siblings Tony, Walter, Stanley, Sabina, Angeline, Marion, Frank and Ed. A graveside service will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery Peplin WI on Friday June 12, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Peterson Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 6th Street Wausau WI is assisting the family.
