Shirley M. Sorenson

Shirley M. Sorenson 73, Wausau, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 24, 1934 in Crookston, Minn., daughter of the late Orville and Ivien (Rarick) Vang. On June 14, 1958 she married Harold Sorenson. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2007. Shirley worked as a nurse and also owned Sorenson Floral for 28 years. Some of her many hobbies included bowling, fishing, camping and gardening, especially flowers. She will always be remembered for putting others before herself and for her great love of family who will miss her dearly. Survivors include her three children, Ciri (John) Baehman, Ringwood, Ill., Todd (Shelia) Sorenson, Mosinee and Craig (Sandra) Sorenson, Wausau; nine grandchildren, Kent, Kate and Claire Baehman, Jared, Kyse, Connor, Emily, Andrew and Hillary Sorenson; and one sister, Kay Chicini, Sedona, Ariz. Besides her parents and husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Vang and a sister, Carol Jacobson. Funeral services will be Noon Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, 406 Grant Street, Wausau. The Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
