Shirley M. Laws

Shirley "Charlie" M. (Carney) Laws, 66, Merrill, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born May 12, 1939 in Wausau, daughter of the late Arthur F. and Sophie (Sewacki) Carney. For the past 25 years, she was employed with Church Mutual Insurance Company in Merrill. Shirley will always be remembered by family and friends for her famous rum cake, candy apple salad and her homemade buns. Among her many interests, she had a great love for animals, was known as the "QVC Queen" and had a special touch for showing care and compassion to others when needed. Survivors include, two sisters, Mary Ann (Larry) Knoblock and Helen (Andy) Champine, all of Schofield; six nieces and nephews, Todd (Tami) Knoblock, Paul (Paula) Knoblock, Neil (Susie) Knoblock, Amy Jo (Chris) Schumacher, Angela (Erik) Mesunas and Sara (Scotty Best) Champine; eleven great nieces and nephews, Melissa, Brandon, Bradley, Dannieyelle, Kienna, Keondre, Kennidi, Derek, Kyle, Brianna and Destiny; her special pets, "Polly" and "Ozzie"; and her family at Church Mutual Insurance Company. Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Chaplain Stephen Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the Sixth Street Funeral Home.
