Say Chao Her
73, Wausau, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital alongside his family and friends.
He was born October 28, 1934 in Laos. On March 16, 1980 Say Chao and his family sought refuge in the United States and have resided in Wausau since.
Say Chao was a loving and compassionate man who was well known in the Hmong community for his expertise in massage therapy and herbal remedies. He faithfully served alongside the American CIA during the Vietnam War and joined the Lao Veterans of America, Inc. Chapter 2 of Wausau in 1995. Say Chao was also a lifetime member of First Hmong Alliance Church in Wausau. In his free time he loved spending time outdoors, small game hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He was often seen taking walks and gardening an array of vegetables, plants and herbs.
Survivors include his wife, Cheng T. Her; six sons, Joe Ge (Lee), Wung Doua (MayMee), Nao Bong (Song), Cher (Ka Bao), Nhia (KaoLee), and Kou, all of Wausau; two daughters, Chou (George Thao), Coon Rapids and Choua (Nao Tou Xiong), La Crosse; 26 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 28 from 4-10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. - 10 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave, Wausau. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 31 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, with graveside military honors.
