Sanford E. Morse

Sanford E. "Sonny" Morse, 78, Athens, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford. He was born December 14, 1937 in the town of Rietbrock, son of the late Sanford A. and Eula (Wisner) Morse. On June 11, 1960 he married Judith Justmann in Edgar. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2012. Sonny was a farmer for most of his life. He worked for the Aging and Disability Resource Center where he delivered Meals-On-Wheels until his retirement. In his spare time, he liked to watch the Packers, listen to the Brewers games, played tuba in the Athens Old Timers Band, and loved gardening. Sonny was a past member of the Forest Lodge No. 130 and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three daughters Shelby Niskanen, Loyal, Dr. Sandra (Dale) Stuttgen, Colby, Rev. Sara (Tim Winn) Morse, Roseville, Minn., one son Stuart (Karen) Morse, Athens; grandchildren Beth Stuttgen, Larry Stuttgen, Luke Morse, Nathaniel Morse, Courtney Morse, Daniel Winn and Michael Winn; sisters Nancy (Earl) Albrecht, Helen (Thomas) Giese, Audrey (Harold) Pruss, Alberta (Wayne) Walker and Sally (LaMont) Meinen; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Rev. Rebecca Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Village Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
