Ruth Ann Wood

Ruth Ann Wood, 71, Wausau, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 21, 2015 after a lingering illness. Ruth was born April 24, 1944 to the late Willis and Gladys (Schwantz) Dumke. Her faith in God was very important to her along with her family and lifelong friends. Before falling ill, she sang with the Fox Valley Sweet Adeline's, enjoyed volunteering at church, spending time with family and friends, and sharing her love of God. Her most precious days were spent with her grandchildren as they brought joy and happiness to her. She is survived by her three children, John Wood, New London, Jenelle (Patrick) Thompson, Wausau and Jeffrey (DeAnn Nighbor) Wood, New London; eight grandchildren, Jacob Thompson, Joshua (Meghan) Thompson, Alayna, Ethan and Gabe Wood, Brad, Trevor and Ryan Nighbor; two great grandchildren, Faith and Bennett Thompson; and two sisters, Sharlene Marsh and Darlene Krause. She is further survived by lifelong friends, Carol Loften, Judy Weyneth, Betty Williams and Patricia Wood. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Dumke; sister, Diane Nylund; and dear friend, Darla Heinz. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. A special thank you goes to the staff at Kennedy Park Nursing Home for the compassionate care given to Ruth during her stay there.
