Ruth Anna Ollhoff

Ruth Anna Ollhoff 92, 427 North 1st Avenue, Wausau, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born April 24, 1916 in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Laabs) Hartwig. On January 15, 1938 she was united in marriage to Reuben Ollhoff at St. Stephen Church in Merrill. They were happily married for 63 years. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2001. They lived for 7 years in the town of Maine before moving to their current home in Wausau where Ruth had resided for the past 63 years raising her children. In the 1950's Ruth was bookkeeper for the Ollhoff Furnace Co. and for a short period worked at the Wausau Club. In the 1960's she went to work at Herbergers where she worked for 14 years enjoying all the wonderful people she met there. Ruth was a member of several card clubs and enjoyed the time spent with her friends. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran church, Welfare Workers, the Quilters and coordinated bus trips. Survivors include her children, Carol Uekert, Marathon, Jim (Karen) Ollhoff, Merrill, Katie (Bob) Richey, Tomahawk, Mary Lord, Billerica, Mass., Char (Karl) Pilath, Hatley, Mike (Sandy) Ollhoff, Poynette, Mark (Josie) Ollhoff, Tina Ollhoff, Gene (Peggy) Ollhoff, all of Wausau and Gary (Chris) Ollhoff, Merrill; 25 grandchildren, Lori (Al) Bernarde, Patti (Mike) Athanas, Mitch (Guynia), Dan, Scott, Greg (Jackie) Ollhoff, Diane (Ward) Bennett, Sherrie (Jeff) Krohn, McKenya (Bruce) Gore, Jennifer (Kory) Zimmerman, Justin, Christopher, Alissa Lord, Pete, Andrea, Steven, Rachel, Kyle, Branden, Jocelyn, Stephanie, Samantha, Natalie, Alicia Ollhoff and Cathy (Mike) Kressel; 17 great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Ferdy (Elenora) Ollhoff, nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David, grandchildren, Debbie Ollhoff and John Richey, brothers, Herbert and Arnold Hartwig, sisters, Irene Goetsch and Elsie Steffenhagen and a son-in-law, Donald Uekert. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave, Wausau. The Rev. Matthew Hein will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave, Wausau, and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Our family is very grateful that God gave us such a loving person to be our mother and friend. She was gifted with a great sense of humor and love of people especially when she was playing cards. The family understands that she had a good life and we could not keep her forever. She will be deeply missed by all that loved her.
