Ruth V. Klemp
100, Wausau, formerly of Cable died Friday, February 04, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Sylvan Crossing, Wausau.
She was born October 18, 1910 in Cable, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Etta (Heisley) Frels. On May 21, 1933 she married Rev. Eugene A. Klemp in Cable. He preceded her in death February of 1988. Rev. Eugene and Ruth served parishes in Cable and Alma Center in Wisconsin, Appleton and Springfield in Minnesota and Alta, Iowa. They later retired to Cable for the summers and Apache Junction, Arizona for the winters.
Ruth was a health census taker for the U.S. government for more than 25 years. Playing Bridge, tending to her flower gardens and cooking were some of her favorite pastimes. Most of all Ruth will be fondly remembered for her hostess skills that she loved to share with people when they came to visit with her. Whether it was a wonderful meal or a snack she always knew how to make people feel right at home.
Survivors include her children, Eugene (Dianne) Klemp Jr., Albany, OR., Rev. Paul (Kathy) Klemp, White Bear Lake, MN and Helen (Bob) Sween-Ippel, Wausau, 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Thompson, Salem, OR.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Klemp and her siblings, Esther, Louie, Mabel, Blanche, Hazel, Grace, Nell, Art, Irvin "Pete" and Christian "Snooky".
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Corcoran, MN. A memorial service will be held in Cable at a later date.
