Russell I. Streveler
63, of Wausau and Sebring , Florida, passed away unexpectedly Weds. Nov. 24, 2004 in Sarasota, Florida.
He was born September 4, 1941 in Wausau, son of the late Alois and Leona (Spatz) Streveler. He attended Holy Name School and was a 1959 Newman High School graduate, where he was active in football, basketball and baseball. On May 2, 1964 he married Natalie J. Worzalla at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point. She survives.
Russell played baseball for Knotty Pine in the Lincoln County League, basketball for Sportsmans of Wausau City League and Knotty Pine in the Merrill City League. He also bowled for Vern's Barber Shop.
He had been employed at Malbrit Heating and Cooling and for Wausau Papers, Brokaw. After his retirement in 1998 he delivered campers for RV Transport.
Among his favorite things to do were traveling, camping, fishing trips to Canada and playing Petanque while wintering in Florida.
As a proud veteran of the US Air Force, Russell served his country from 1962 until 1966. He was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sebring, Fla. and was a member of the Moose Lodge #2259 in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Natalie, a son, Ryan (Melissa) Streveler, Chesterfield, Mich., two daughters, Mindy (Jay) Nelson, Wausau and Megan Streveler, St. Peter, Minn., a brother, William M.(Patricia) Streveler, Schofield, five grandchildren, Emma, MacKenzie and Delaney Streveler of Michigan and Brianna and Hunter Nelson of Wausau as well as his favorite Yellow Lab, Chedder of St. Peter, Minn and seven nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
