Russell "Pete" A. Peterson
82, Weston died Friday, September 3, 2010 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 26, 1928 in Wausau, son of the late William and Adolphine (Schipnewski) Peterson. On February 14, 1953 he married Barbara Hager in the town of Wien. She survives.
Russell was co-owner and President of Meyer-Peterson Adjustment Co. in Wausau. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage on Lost Lake in St. Germain. Russell was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, both of Wausau and the Wausau Elks Lodge #248.
Russell proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany during Post WWII Reconstruction.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Peterson, Weston, his children, Peggy (Lee) Olbrantz, Wausau, Dirk (Kathi) Peterson, Merrill and Grant (Judy) Peterson, Tomahawk, five grandchildren, Jennifer Olbrantz, Wausau, Rebecca Olbrantz, Wausau, Christopher Peterson, Antigo, Julia (Chip) Ionel, Wausau and Paul Peterson, Madison.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Eloyd and Gordon Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, Weston. The Rev. Sid Bouldin will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau where full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Covenant Community Presbyterian Church or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff with Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and the Ministry Dialysis Center for the outstanding care they gave to Russell during his illness.
