Russell R. Murkowski

Russell R. Murkowski, 50, of Poniatowski, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born May 21, 1963 in Wausau, son of the late Raymond and Geraldine (Sprenger) Murkowski. Russell was a 1981 graduate of Athens High School. For the past 17 years, he has been employed with Marathon Cheese Corp. in Marathon. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, participating in snowmobile races and tractor pulls and tinkering with small engines in his garage. Russell was a loving father. He was very proud of his four children and their accomplishments. He loved spending time with his children, family and friends. Russell will be deeply missed. Survivors include four children, Heather (Christopher Guden) Murkowski, Heidi Murkowski, Breanna Murkowski and Bret Murkowski, all of Athens; his fiancAC.e, Lynn Lasinski, Hatley; his former spouse, Christine Lang, Edgar; four siblings, Pam (Rick) Stencil, Edgar, Randy Murkowski, Marathon, Brenda (Mike) Sessions, Athens and Rick (Laura) Murkowski, Athens; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Deacon Leroy Knauf will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
