Russell J. Marthaler
47, 825 Winton Street, Wausau, died Tuesday December 17, 2002 at his home under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born October 21, 1955 in Milwaukee, son of Donald and Adeline (Vesely) Marthaler. On October 23, 1976 he married Barbara Barthels at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
He had been employed with American Family Insurance Company as a claims adjustor. Special to Russ was the time he spent up north at the lake with family and friends. He enjoyed snowmobiling, trapp shooting and deer hunting in the Glidden area. Many fishing trips were made to Canada with family and friends as well.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Wausau, two daughters, Stephanie (Travis) Augustine, Athens, Amie Marthaler, Wausau, his parents, Donald and Adeline Marthaler, Brokaw, two brothers, Scott Marthaler, Milwaukee and Robert Marthaler, Madison, two sisters, Gwen (Dale) Albrecht, Wausau and Christine Marthaler, Wausau, his mother-in-law, Lorraine Barthels, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Albert Barthels.
The funeral mass will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday December 21, 2002 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in St. Augustine Cemetery, Harrison Hills. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau and again on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
