Rudy J. Weisenberger Sr

Rudolph "Rudy" Weisenberger Sr. 84, Marathon died Saturday, February 18, 2012 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau. He was born June 21, 1927 in the Village of Marathon, son of the late Anton and Frances (Dalske) Weisenberger. They lived on the family farm near Marathon City and Rudy was the only son of six children. On April 29, 1950 he married Florence Michalewicz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel. She survives. Rudy and his six sons operated a saw mill, (Weisenberger Tie and Lumber Company) for many years as well as farming in the town of Cassel. He loved the Cubs, Packers and the Brewers and attended as many games as he could. Some of Rudy's other hobbies included spending time at his home in Minocqua, hunting, fishing and taking trips to Las Vegas. Later in life Rudy enjoyed searching for cans along the highways and side roads only to peel the tabs off and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House. He was proud to have collected over nine large plastic bags full. Survivors include his wife, Florence "Flossie" Weisenberger, Marathon, seven children, Roger (Karen) Weisenberger and Dennis (Jean) Weisenberger, both of Marathon, Larry (Barbara) Weisenberger, Schofield, Jane Erdman, Wausau, Rudy (Deborah) Weisenberger Jr., Withee, Leon Weisenberger, Wausau and Marlen (Lana) Weisenberger, Kronenwettter, 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one sister, Ceceil Kreft, Kenosha. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by seven infant children, two great grandchildren and four sisters. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday February 22, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Rudy's name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
