Rudy W. Dins
84, Edgar, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by family.
Rudy was born December 27, 1923 in Colby, son of the late Otto and Louise (Schumann) Dins. On September 21, 1953 he married Adeline "Dina" Lee, whom preceded him in death on July 2, 2005.
Rudy worked in construction most of his adult life, retiring from Oscar J. Boldt Construction as a construction superintendent. He served his country in the United States Navy Armed Guard as a Seamen First Class during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Edgar Memorial Post No. 10187 and the American Legion Sawyer-Drumm Post No. 393, Edgar. Rudy served on the Edgar Village Board and the St. Stephen Lutheran Church Council. He was also instrumental in starting the Little League baseball program in Edgar. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, fishing, and bowling. He looked forward to his Monday night bowling league, where at age 82, he bowled a 693 series. He enjoyed staying busy with countless woodworking and remodeling projects for his family and friends.
Rudy took great comfort in his strong Christian faith. He was devoted to his family. His kids always knew, if they ever needed help with anything, just call dad....
Survivors include his six children, Rick (Sue) Dins, Ron (Michelle) Dins, Kathy (Kevin) Osness, Carol (Greg) Easter, Karen Dins and Kay Dins, all of Wausau; five grandchildren, Kelsey and Kellen Dins, Gabe Dins, Erin and Alex Osness; two sisters, Bertha Schauer, Spencer and Dorothy Dins, Colby; many other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Otto and Fredrick Dins and one sister, Adeline Krueger.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgar. Rev. LaDonna Ekern will officiate. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Edgar cemetery.
