Rudolph William "Rudy" Zielke, 77, 1116 Spring Street, Wausau, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1926 in Wabeno, son of the late Rudolph and Clara (Rusch) Zielke. He married Margaret Poels on March 18, 1950 in Fairbault, Minn.
Rudy graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Forestry Engineering. He loved music. He sang in the Carroll College Choir and played piano, organ and saxaphone. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Zielke, Wausau and four children, Brian (Cindy) Zielke, Waukesha, Gary (Jane) Zielke, St. Paul, Minn, Mary (Steve) Knee, Milwaukee, R. Thomas Zielke, Wausau. Six grandchildren, Brian Zielke, Jr, Kaeleigh Zielke, Jon Zielke, Stefanie Zielke, Elizabeth Knee and Andrew Knee. He is also survived by one brother, Lyle (Marjorie) Zielke, Racine. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Robert.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial services, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. James W. Primley will officiate. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King.
