Rudolph "Carl" Hanke
70, 811 E. Thomas Street, Wausau died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born December 1, 1935 in the town of Hamburg, son of the late Herman and Lucia (Thurs) Hanke. On April 27, 1957 he married Ramona Roeder at St. Peter Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. She survives.
Carl was a supervisor at Marathon Electric for many years. He was very fond of all types of cars and was always reading up and familiarizing himself with all the new makes and models out. His many hobbies included all types of sports, especially hunting and fishing with his family. Every Memorial Day was special to Carl for he and his family would head to Squirrel Lake and enjoy a weekend of fishing together. Carl always found time to enjoy the company of his grandchildren, but never ran short of time for his sidekick, "Casey" the family dog.
Carl was a member of the National Guard in Merrill.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Hanke, Wausau, his sons, Mark Hanke, Matthew Hanke and Brian (Cynthia) Hanke, all of Wausau and Jeffrey (Tammy) Hanke, Weston, his grandchildren, Phillip, Jacob, Tyler, Tanner, Taylen, Rachel, Nolan and Caleb Hanke, two sisters, Diann (John) Schultz, Wausau and Joyce (Paul) Kay, Green Bay.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Leonard and Antone Hanke and one sister, Esther Mader.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Dr. Michael Miranda will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, town of Hamburg. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Carl's name.
