Roy A. Nyberg

Roy A. Nyberg 80, 824 E. Wausau Ave., Wausau, died Monday May 13, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born May 24, 1921 in Nemo, South Dakota, son of the late Walfrid and Hilda (Carlson) Nyberg. On June 11, 1944 he married his sweetheart, Joyce Dodge in Merrill. She survives. For several years, Roy had been employed as a bus driver for the City of Wausau retiring in 1986. Through the years, his warm smile was a welcome sight to many of his regular customers. Woodworking and gardening were among his many pastimes. Roy was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Rib Mountain. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce, two sons, David Nyberg, Largo, Florida, Steven (LeeAnn) Nyberg, Wausau a special daughter-in-law, Barbara Nyberg, Bellaire Bluffs, Florida, three grandchildren, Virginia (Craig) Smith, Alexis (Jim) Lucas and Marci Nyberg, six great-grandchildren, Brent, Carrie, Zelda, Amanda, Alex and Emerson, one sister, Anne Carlson, Calimesa, California. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Hazel Komula and a brother, Ingwald Nyberg. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Wedsnesday May 15, 2002 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau. Pastor Robert Mills will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
