Roy F. LaPean
77, Wausau died Friday, March 4, 2011 at his home.
He was born December 6, 1933 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of the late Roy F. and Libbie J. (DeLangis) LaPean Sr. On August 1, 1955 he married Jeanette Hall at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Roy LaPean was a registered Radiologic Technologist, having worked in that capacity at St. Mary's Hospital, Wausau from 1956 - 1963, and at Wausau Clinic from 1966 until 1975 at which time he then worked as Director of Personnel and Facilities until 1991.
Member of the American Legion, Served as President of the local chapter of the Reserve Officer Association, Member of the Wisconsin Clinic Personnel Association, State of Wisconsin Employer Committee Executive Committee, Chairperson of Wausau Job Service Advisory Committee and chairperson of the Wausau Area Personnel Association He also served on the Girl Scout Board of Directors and Visiting Nurses Board as well as the NTC Supervisory Management and Secretarial Science Advisory Committees.
Served consecutively in the Michigan National Guard, Wisconsin National Guard and the Army Reserves from 1953 until 1978, retiring with the rank of Major. Served on active duty during the Berlin Crisis.
He enjoyed being up North, camping, fishing, hunting and being with his family. He also had pleasure doing work on the computer, woodworking and finishing and refinishing wood projects.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette LaPean, Wausau two daughters, Susan (Dean) Neumann, Merrill and Jane Bergman, Wausau; two sons, Roy A. (Elaine) LaPean, Green Bay and Robert (Crystal) LaPean, Wausau. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jenna Neumann (fiancee Matt Robinson), Daniel (Sarah) Neumann, Kevin (Erika) LaPean, Michael (Laura) LaPean, Stephanie LaPean (Eric Lepke), Amanda (Joe) Beausoleil, Elad Gribowski; four great grandchildren Charlotte and Gretchen LaPean, Aidyn and Scarlet Beausoleil, and a twin sister, Rita (Jack) Calcaterra, Iron Mountain, MI.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Gregory Michaud will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Roy's name.
