Roy E. Knapp 71, 2613 Teal Avenue, Wausau, died Monday, December 3, 2001 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Roy was born October 3, 1930 in Wausau , son of the late Fred and Viola (Schuh) Knapp. He married Rosalie Mogensen July 14, 1951 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death August 2, 1999. Roy was employed as a truck driver at the former Spector Freight Company for 34 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was very active in the Disabled American Veterans Graveen Chapter #64. Roy loved fishing, watching football on television and being involved in local politics. Survivors include his children, Shelley (Robert) Reed, Long Beach, Mississippi, and their son, Robbie, Tom Knapp, Seldonta, Alaska, Carrie (Ron) Sorenson, Merrill, and their children, Justin and Allen and Julie Knapp, Wausau, two brothers, Dennis (Jeanette) Knapp, Wausau and David (Patty) Knapp, Merrill, three sisters, Vietta Kolbe, Marathon, Virginia (John) Hanke, Wausau and Kay Geiss, Hortonville, and special friend and caregiver, Allen Olson, Wausau. Committal services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2001 at Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Rev. Thomas Hoelter will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. There will be a D.A.V. memorial service 7 p.m. Thursday at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Roy's name is being established.
