Roy K. Gilchrist

Roy K. Gilchrist, 56, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on June 10, 1955, in Chicago, IL, son of the late Jack and Audrey Gilchrist. Roy graduated from Marathon High School in 1973 and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. He then went on to get his master's degree from Lewis University. Roy worked for many years in the Chicago area in the field of information technology. In 2008 Roy moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces, nephews and great-nieces. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls. His favorite hobby was trivia. He participated in the Stevens Point Trivia Contest since 1977 with the Astro Wolfpack Team where he looked forward to seeing his friends and competing each year. Roy was a kind, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. Roy is survived by his brother John Gilchrist (JoAnn), Marathon; and nieces and nephews: Rick Brzezinski, Julie Klee, Jill Arendt, Justin Gilchrist and five great-nieces. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Gail Wolfe. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 1:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service all at the funeral home.
