Rosina Catherine Heil, 94, Marathon, died Monday, January 14, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marathon Assisted Living.
She was born February 11, 1918 in Johnsburg, Illinois, daughter of the late Jacob and Barbara (Brown) Diedrich. On October 14, 1940 she married Ervin Heil in Volo, Illinois. He preceded her in death December 20, 1981.
Rosina attended St. Peter's School in Volo, Illinois and after her marriage to Ervin they moved to the town of Cassel in 1950 where they farmed and raised their 11 children. She weeded in the ginseng gardens, crocheted, sewed and made rosaries. After Ervin's death Rosina moved to Marathon where she resided until the fall of 2010 when she moved to Marathon Assisted Living. In her more active years she was a member of the Secular Franciscans, volunteered at both St. Anthony's Retreat Center and St. Mary Church and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the St. Mary PCCW.
Survivors include her children, Theresa Wysocki, Port Washington, Dennis (Carol) Heil, Wausau, Richard (Lynn) Heil, Weston, Arnold (LuAnne) Heil, Wausau, James (Janet) Heil, Venetia, Pennsylvania, Rose Nerad, Bellingham, Washington, Roger (Joanne) Heil, Eugene (Paula) Heil, both of Marathon, Barbara (Rodney) Roeder, Weston, and Marge (Barry) Busse, Wausau; son-in-law, Greg Stark, Edgar; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (James) Miller; and brother, Stanley (Dorothy) Diedrich, McHenry, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Heil-Stark, a son-in-law, Ronald Wysocki, brothers, George, John, Joseph and Alfred Diedrich and a sister, Anna Tonyan.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Monsignor Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. There will be a parish rosary 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Marathon funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marathon Assisted Living and Aspirus Hospice for their care of Mom.
