Rosemary Williams

Rosemary "Rhode" Evelyn Williams, 82, died Saturday November 13, 2004 after an extended illness at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. Rhode was born February 8, 1922 in Menominee, Mich., daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (Koch) Griffith. In 1942 she graduated from Menasha High School, then attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for one year. She graduated from McMurray College in Jackson, Ill., in 1946 with a degree in Elementary Education and received a Master's degree in Education from the University of Milwaukee in 1950. Rhode taught in Manitowoc, Monroe, Menasha, Shorewood, Madison and for 17 years at Grant Elementary School, Wausau, as Director and head teacher in the Chapter I Preschool Program. She was a traveler, reader and family historian. On November 22, 1951, she married Donald B. Williams in Menasha and later moved to Wausau. Survivors include four sons, Griffith K. (Dorathy) Williams and their family, Jessica and Griffith B. Williams, Wausau; Tony (Kathy Webb) Williams and their family, Evelyn, Nora, and Thomas Williams, Minneapolis; Thomas (Jackie) Williams and their family, Steven, Sarah (Ryan) Wienke and Karl Williams, Wausau; David (Mary) Williams and their family, Molly and Samantha Williams, Lorena, Lydia and Roberto Jimenez, Gulf Port, Miss.; two daughters, Ginny Williams, Stevens Point and Betts (Mary Blichmann) Williams, Silt, Colo.; one sister, Barbara Boehm, Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada; one great-grandson, Arik and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Weds. November 17, 2004 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Tues. from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Weds. from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sixth Street funeral home. Memorials in Rosemary's name may be directed to the Alzheimers Association.
