Ronald D. "Cowboy" Rolnicki, 78, Tomahawk, died Friday, July 7, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Tomahawk of Congestive Heart Failure.
He was born May 4, 1939, in Wausau, son of the late Walter and Ella (Syring) Rolnicki.
Ron worked at Wausau Papers in Brokaw for many years. In 1982 he moved out to Cody, Wyoming and ran the White Buffalo Motel and Restaurant. While there he also worked for the sanitation department. Ron later moved back to Tomahawk and went to work for Northern Wire in Merrill until his retirement.
Some of his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting and taking rides to look for wildlife. He loved mowing his and his neighbor's lawns on his riding lawn mower! His yearly late summer trips to Cody were something he looked forward to and loved. In addition, the past few years he also enjoyed traveling to his Navy Reunions. Daily, Ron collected state quarters for his grandchildren! Ron never missed a Milwaukee Brewers game on TV. Even his last week in the hospital he made sure he knew when and what channel the game was on! He was also proud to be a Master Mason.
Survivors include his two children, Linda (Steve) Radant, Wausau and Connie (Scott) Rolnicki, Merrill, his special friend, Brenda Leighton, Tomahawk, 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, Darrel Rolnicki, Arizona, and his faithful companion, Angel.
Besides his parents, and his first wife Faye Rolnicki, he was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Weber.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. The Rev. Joy Nelson Jeffers will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services, all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
