Ronald A. Graveen, 80, of Edgar entered eternal life on November 17, 2014 at his home, comfortable in his favorite chair, watching Davy Crockett, with his wife by his side. He would have not had it any other way. His spirit is carried on by his 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 2 siblings, and an extended family of relatives and friends.
Ronnie was born on October 4, 1934. He was born at home in the town of Emmet to the late Leonard and Helen (Wiesman) Graveen. He graduated from Stratford High School and was a milk hauler until he moved to Chicago to work for Union Carbide. He then joined the U.S. Army and was based out of California. When he returned from serving our country, he moved to Stratford, WI to support the family business on the Graveen Brothers turkey farms. Ronnie married Jeannine Rusch at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Stratford on April 22, 1961. Ronald and his wife Jeannine moved to Edgar in 1972 and he worked as a Manager at the Midway Powder Company until he retired in 2000. Ronnie believed in working hard and passed his work ethic onto his children. He was Mr. Fix-It, he enjoyed working on and teaching his children to fix everything from household projects, cars, lawnmowers, snow blowers; if you need to be able to use it, you better know how to fix it. Ronnie had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to joke around with family and friends. Ronnie served on the Ebenezer Church board and taught his children the importance of having Christ in their daily lives. Ronnie was one of the kindest people you have met, had a heart of gold and the patience of a saint. If you have met any of his children, the apple did not fall far from the tree. Ronnie taught his children love by the unconditional love he showed his wife of 53 amazing years and was a shining example to his children of what a loving father is. Ronnie enjoyed word working, he loved fishing and the time spent teaching his children the craft of catching the biggest fish in the lake... that got away. Ronnie spent many years hunting and passing these skills down to his children. In his retirement years, he spent summers camping on Pickerel Lake and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Ronnie was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife. The love they shared is a love that you could feel when you walked into the room. Ronnie had one of the brightest smiles you've ever seen and lit up a room when he walked in. He was a humble, kind and gentle man and will be missed by so many who knew and loved him. While we are heartbroken we will no longer be able to see his smile, we know that he is resting in the arms of Jesus and we can only imagine how bright his smile is when he looks unto our Lord for the very first time.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Jeannine; Children: Dean (Maria) Edgar, Al (June) Athens, Brian (Cindy) Edgar, Linda Frahm (Kevin) Athens, Mike (Tracy) Edgar; Grandchildren: Bradley, Marisa, KC, Sadie, Jesse, Starr, Justin, Jaiden, Jordan, Jaxon, Harrison; Great-grandchildren: Alonna, Gavin, Asher, Hadley, Kameya; Brother: Roger (Leila) Graveen, Edgar; Sister: Carol Blawat, Milwaukee. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
