Ronald J. Brunner

July 10, 1938 — May 17, 2002

Ronald J. Brunner 63, Schofield, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born in the town of Seneca, Shawano County on July 10, 1938, son of the late Rolley and Barbara (Pevonka) Brunner. On November 29, 1958, he married Barbara Ann Alt at St. Anne Catholic Church in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. She survives. Ron's faith was very important and has been a strength for him and his family. He loved being with his wife, children and grandchildren and focused his time and energy on them throughout his life. Ron was a barber in Wausau for 40 years and shared many stories and advice with his customers and will be remembered fondly for his love for fishing and the Packers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on Squash Lake near Rhinelander and fishing throughout Northern Wisconsin. Ron was a life long fan and had season tickets to the Green Bay Packers and was able to attend the last two Packer Super Bowls. He will be remembered as a husband, companion, father, and friend and will be missed. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, Schofield; two daughters, Carri (Randy) Szews, Hatley and their children, Angie, Max and Courtney, Kristin (Greg) Zurla, Littleton, Colorado and their daughter, Shelby; one son, Bruce (Donna Minter) Brunner, Eden Prairie, Minnesota and their children, Kaitlin, Betsey and Melanie; one brother, Robert (Mary Jo) Brunner, Shawano; four sisters, Helen (George) Peterman, Shawano, Alene Hearn, Phoenix, Arizona, Karen (Michael) Marsden and Sandra (Wayne) Buettner all of Appleton; one brother-in-law, Michael (Lois) Alt, Schofield; mother-in-law, Helen C. Alt, Evansville and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Bud Baumgartner, Shawano and father-in-law, Edward Alt, Boulder Junction. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Very Reverend William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau and again on Monday from 10:30 am. until the time of services at the church.
