Ron Slaby, 71, Kronenwetter, died Thursday February 26, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 5, 1943, in Arcadia, son of the late Rufus and Bernice (Haines) Slaby. On September 14, 1963, he married Mary Ann Zoromski in Independence. She survives.
Ron was a veteran of the US Navy. In 1968, Ron started in the fire protection industry with Viking Fire Protection, then became one of the founders of Integrity Fire Protection and later formed Fire-Ex Systems Engineering.
Among his favorite things to do were musky fishing, big game hunting and deer hunting with the Hunters V. He was a member of the NRA, the Weston Trap Club and enjoyed trap shooting and reloading benchrest shooting.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Slaby, Kronenwetter; three children, Russ (Paula) Slaby, Wausau, Lisa (Jon) Habeck, Wausau and Leann (Seth) Bier, Los Angeles, Ca.; six grandchildren, Nichole, Heather, Sara, Reed, Jenna and Makayla; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Lilly, Cora, Michael, Cameron and Maxwell; five siblings, Daniel (Pat) Slaby, Landers, Ca., David (Jackie) Slaby, Marshfield, Doris (Dan) Cook, Eau Claire, Dale (special friend, Paula) Slaby, Chippewa Falls, and Diane (Steve) Gunderson, Onalaska, along with many other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday March 2, 2015 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Very Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Ron received the gift of life twice through kidney transplant, first from his daughter, Leann and later from his cousin, Chris. Out of respect to these generous life-giving gifts, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the UW Foundation-Mike Armbrust Transplant Fund, in care of the family.
