Roman G. Schnoor

Roman "Romie" G. Schnoor 76, Manitowish Waters, formerly of Wausau, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home, following complications with heart surgery. He was born May 25, 1932 in Merrill. On September 3, 1955, he married Barbara Yunkherr at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2001. Romie was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War as a Sergeant. For the majority of his life, Romie enjoyed a career in industrial chemical sales. Following retirement, he enjoyed spending summers on the lake in Manitowish Waters and winters in Phoenix, Ariz. with his daughter, Carrie. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Among his many interests, Romie enjoyed musky fishing, deer hunting, dancing, playing cards, socializing with family and friends and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and season ticket holder since 1960. Survivors include three children, Carrie Wilson, Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth (Sheree) Schnoor, Merrill and Susie (Bob) Weekes, Green Bay; two grandchildren, Jenna Wilson, Phoenix, Ariz. and Andy Weekes, Green Bay; one brother-in-law, Dale (Fran) Yunkherr, Central Point, Ore.; and many friends throughout the country who will dearly miss him. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother, Diana (Henkelman) Schnoor. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. John Meachen will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau.
