Roman C. Murkowski

Roman C. Murkowski 86, 3815 Carl Street, Wausau, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. He was born February 12, 1920 in Poniatowski, son of the late Peter and Anna (Nowicki) Murkowski. On February 3, 1942 he married Lorraine Rosner at St. John Catholic Church, Wuertzburg. She survives. Roman worked at Wausau Hospital for more than 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool and traveling extensively throughout the United States with his wife Lorraine. Roman and Lorraine made several trips to Alaska and never passed on the opportunity to enjoy the excellent fishing that the state had to offer. Survivors besides his wife, Lorraine Murkowski, Wausau include his children, Judith (Thomas) Kerkman, Salem, Mary E. (Warren) Docherty, Minneapolis, Gerard (Bonnie) Murkowski, Chanhassen, MN, Francis (Diana) Murkowski, Saline, Mich., Roman G. (fiancAC. Barbe Wilcox) Murkowski, Wausau, Teresa (Paul) Podruch, Madison, Gary (Colleen) Murkowski, Milwaukee, Allen (Lisa) Murkowski, Weston, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four sisters, Irene King, Athens, Mary Berras, Poniatowski, Theresa Berens and Jane Gatner, both of Wausau. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Zarling and Marcella Kramer and four brothers, Frank, Thomas, Anthony and Raymond Murkowski. The funeral mass will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
