Roger Szarkowitz

Roger Szarkowitz, 66, Rothschild, died Saturday January 19, 2013 at his home, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. He was born November 18, 1946, in Rothschild, son of the late Tom and Mary (Dorshak) Szarkowitz. In 1984, he married Gail Kumbera at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. She survives. Roger was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, serving in the US Navy. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a truck driver. Among his favorite things to do were woodworking, music and selling on e-bay. Survivors include his wife, Gail Szarkowitz, Rothschild, three sisters, Rosalie (Tim) Nowinski, Hatley, Joyce (Harry) Trierweiler, Rothschild, June Szarkowitz, Wausau, one brother, Jack Szarkowitz, Wausau, two god children, Alyssia Rodman and Craig Szarkowitz, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerome, Jim and Joe Szarkowitz. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday January 25, 2013 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from Noon until the time of services all at the Sixth Street, funeral home.
