Roger Joseph Stieber

Roger Joseph Stieber, 90, Wausau, formerly of Marathon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center, Weston. He was born May 20, 1936 in Marathon, son of the late Henry and Anna (Lemmer) Stieber. On July 26, 1958, he married Agnes Rose at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa, WI. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2014.

Roger was a Veteran and served in the United States Army. For many years, he worked as a machine operator for Wausau Paper Corporation until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed playing the stock market, talking politics and spending time with his family. Roger will be remembered for his beautiful smile, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was always ready to offer good advice and a funny story. Most of all, he loved spending his retirement years in Florida with his wife, Agnes.

Survivors include four children, Dean (Robin) Stieber, James Stieber, Brian Stieber and Lynn Stieber; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five siblings, Dennis (Leisa) Stieber, Francis (Cindy) Stieber, Pauline (Johnny) Ivaska, Rose (Gary) Stubbe and Rita (Rich) Rennie; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Agnes, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Elliot Stieber; and two sisters, Imelda (Don) Connick and Shirley (Herold) Helvey.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026, at Holy Name Catholic Church,1104 S 9th Ave, Wausau. Rev. Woodrow Pace will preside. Visitation will be June 3rd, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, 1206 Co. Rd. B, Marathon.
