Roger W. Messerschmidt

Roger W. Messerschmidt 1303 Ivy Lane, Wausau died Thursday, February 23, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born May 1, 1942 in Merrill, son of the late Hubert and Ruth (Baumann) Messserschmidt. On June 25, 1966 he married Pat Mealey at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. She survives. Prior to his retirement in 2004, Roger was an electrician at Wausau Paper Mills. Among his favorite things to do were going up north camping at Sherewood Forest, listening to Polkas, taking an occasional trip to the casino and spending time with his family, especially the light of his life-his grandchildren. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, Wausau. Survivors besides his wife, Pat Messerschmidt, Wausau, include his children, Mark (Lisa) Messerschmidt, Weston and their sons, Tyler, Cody and Connor; Michael (Mary Jo) Messerschmidt, Merrill, and their family, Kelsey and Adam; Marsha (Chris) Burklund, Green Bay and their family, Kyle and Hailey, two brothers Ronald (Joyce) Messerschmidt, Sturtevant, Rodney (Kim) Messerschmidt, Tomahawk, five sisters, Donna (Hank) Forester, Merrill, Bonnie Hill, Rothschild, Doris Bernhardt, Racine, Lorraine (Ed) Hermanson, Lewiston, Idaho and Roseanne Kluck, Wausau. Roger is further survived by his brother-in-law, Michael Mealey, Schofield and special cousins, Jean and John Peeters, Tomahawk. Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his infant brother, Roy Allen. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2006 at Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Joseph Gyim-Austin will preside. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Sixth Street funeral home. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com
